Growing Up

Returning from the hospital with each of our bundles of joy, Mark and I toiled over the changes.

Baby #1:

Will she break?

How to we make the bottle?

What time should she eat?

Are we doing this right?

Baby #2

Will he break?

How did we make those bottles 5 years ago?

Now what was it about time schedules?

Are we doing this right?

As time passed, those toils changed…….Worry over the future took over.

Will he ever talk?

Will she always be there for little brother?

Will they stay this close?

What would we do without them?

Are we doing this right?

Now one in high school and the other approaching middle school…. fear sets in.

Boyfriends?  Dating?  How on earth did our parents get through this?

When will this forgetfulness stop?

Will you two stop fussing?

Are we doing this right?

Prayers uttered to ease the fears.  Blessings spilled over them while sleeping calms the worry.  As for doing this right….. God only knows.  We’re careful to be the godly examples we are told to be…….

Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got! Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.  Deuteronomy 6:5-9 (The Message)

Wonder, though, how much do they really see?  Understand? Notice?

Guess time will tell…….

God Bless…..
